Best upgrade order
Strength → Weight → Capacity → Bounce. Strength reaches further, Weight goes deeper, Capacity holds more fish per cast, and Bounce is a rounding error.
Four stats, one clear order. Deep Fishing does not hide its upgrade list — it hides how much each one is worth, which is why the community has settled on pretty much the same answer.
The order
<div class="tbl-wrap"> <table> <thead><tr><th>#</th><th>Upgrade</th><th>What it does</th><th>When it is worth the coins</th></tr></thead> <tbody> <tr><td>1</td><td><strong>Strength</strong></td><td>Casts further out</td><td>Always — it is the only stat that opens new water</td></tr> <tr><td>2</td><td><strong>Weight</strong></td><td>Cast sinks deeper, more fish per cast</td><td>As soon as deeper water starts producing</td></tr> <tr><td>3</td><td><strong>Capacity</strong></td><td>Holds more fish on the hook</td><td>Before AFK sessions; it is the auto-fishing stat</td></tr> <tr><td>4</td><td><strong>Bounce</strong></td><td>Bounce behaviour</td><td>Leftovers only</td></tr> </tbody> </table> </div>
Players are unusually blunt about Bounce. In guide runs of the current build the phrase is basically the same every time — it is the upgrade nobody recommends, and the community says so without hedging. Treat it as the place coins go when there is nothing else left to buy.
Why Capacity belongs above Bounce
Capacity does not look exciting on paper, but it changes how you play:
- It stacks with a deep cast. Weight puts more fish in the water; Capacity lets you actually keep them on one hook.
- It is the AFK stat. If you fish while doing something else, Capacity decides how long a session can run unattended.
- It pays back in coins per minute, which is the only metric that matters once your cast is long enough.

How to spend, not just what to buy
- Batch your buys. Four Strength levels in one session beats one level each of four stats — the payoff arrives immediately instead of being spread across a month.
- Never split a payday across all four. Early coins are scarce; focus is worth more than coverage.
- Keep a floor for rods. Rod unlocks matter, and the two temple rods are gated behind keys and offering fish, not coins alone. Keep that in mind before dumping everything into a stat.
- Re-check after patches. Update notes for this game have historically moved gear around; a stat that was a coin sink last month is not automatically one now.
What comes after the four stats
Once Strength, Weight and Capacity are where you need them, the next multipliers are not in the upgrade panel at all:
- Enchants — one normal and one ultra slot per rod, raising luck and weight. They cannot be moved between rods.
- Mutations — the fish itself gets a multiplier, which is where a lot of the late-game income hides.
- Pond feeding — passive income per minute, independent of how much you cast.
- How to cast farther — the Strength/Weight split, explained properly.
- Enchants: normal and ultra — the two slots per rod.
